New LinkedIn features: Schedule your company posts on LinkedIn, plus more

LinkedIn has announced a new feature that will allow company page admins to schedule posts in advance and select the specific date and time for them to go live on their page.

As a marketer, creating and publishing content to reach your target audience takes time and resources. With LinkedIn’s new scheduling feature, users can pre-publish as many posts as they like, between one hour and up to three months in advance.

The new scheduling feature is easy to use. After writing a post, simply select the specific date and time you want the post to go live. Marketers can also view and manage all scheduled page posts to ensure their content calendar contains a variety of content that goes live at times when their audience is most engaged.

This much-requested feature is a game-changer for marketers who are looking to streamline their content creation strategy and optimise the reach of their posts. By scheduling posts in advance, marketers can focus on other important aspects of their job, while still maintaining a consistent presence on their LinkedIn Page.

The new feature is now available on desktop and iOS for marketers to start using right away to plan their content and reach their target audience at the right time.

Other features announced by LinkedIn:

LinkedIn Audio Events

LinkedIn Audio Events allow users to host and engage in live, audio-only conversations with a professional community from around the world, without the need for third-party broadcasting tools. Attendees can “raise their hand” to speak during the event, and those who don’t want to speak can react using emojis. The event is camera-free and pyjama-friendly, and attendees can navigate the LinkedIn platform without leaving the live event. Audio Events are a great way to establish a brand as a thought leader and make valuable professional connections in a casual yet professional manner.

Auto share job positions

LinkedIn now offers an opt-in feature that automatically shares a company’s new job listings as a pre-scheduled post on their Page, helping them reach a qualified audience and fill their hiring funnel. The text is pre-populated and editable, and one job per day is shared until there are no new roles to share.

Follow pages as your page

LinkedIn now allows pages to follow other pages, enabling them to keep track of trending conversations and easily engage in industry discussions.

Critical vulnerability discovered in WooCommerce Payments Plugin

Automattic, the publisher of the WooCommerce plugin, has discovered and patched a critical vulnerability in the WooCommerce Payments plugin that allows unauthenticated attackers to gain Administrator level credentials and perform a full site-takeover.

This is a major concern as the Administrator is the highest permission user role in WordPress, granting full access to a WordPress site with the ability to create more admin-level accounts and delete the entire website.

Automattic has removed the affected file, and the vulnerability has been patched in the latest version of the plugin (5.6.2).

Users of the affected plugin are recommended to update to the latest version, check for any unexpected activity, and update their passwords and API keys.

Is your WordPress site protected against these vulnerabilities? We offer support and maintenance packages for WordPress websites which automatically detects vulnerabilities like this one and much more.

New reports for eCommerce in Search Console

Google Search Console has introduced two new reports for merchants to accurately measure the search performance of their product listings and snippets. The new reports provide impression and click data from the two different search appearances: Merchant listings and Product snippets.

Store owners should check out the new reports to see how their store is performing in search.

Ads of the week:

New Pepsi Logo

Pepsi has revealed a new visual identity with a new logo, which is the first update in 14 years. The new design draws from the brand’s 125-year history, featuring the Pepsi brand name in a bold typeface cradled within its iconic red and blue ‘yin and yang’ circle.

The new identity will be introduced in North America in autumn 2023, coinciding with the brand’s 125th anniversary, and globally in the following year. It includes a new colour palette that features the colour black, which has been drawn from the branding for Pepsi Zero Sugar, highlighting Pepsi’s continued focus on its zero sugar offering.

Google launches Bard AI chatbot

Google has entered the chatbot market with the release of its AI chatbot named BARD. BARD competes with OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Microsoft Bing Chat, with a focus on improving productivity, creativity, and curiosity while also addressing potential biases and misinformation. Initially, BARD is available in the US and UK, but Google plans to expand to more countries and languages in the future.

Bing Image Creator integrated into Bing Chat and Edge

Microsoft’s Bing Chat has added its AI-powered Image Creator tool that can create images based on users’ descriptions or other visual content. The Bing Image Creator is powered by an advanced version of OpenAI’s DALL-E model.

Users need to be in “creative” mode for the tool to work. Bing Image Creator is also available in Microsoft Edge, making it the first and only browser with an integrated AI-powered image generator.

In addition, Microsoft Bing announced updates to its AI-powered visual stories and knowledge cards, providing interactive, dynamic content like charts, graphs, and timelines.

B2B TV ad spend in the UK more than doubles in four years

B2B brands have more than doubled their investment in UK linear TV advertising over the past four years, with spend reaching £108m in 2022, according to data from Nielsen provided to Thinkbox.

This growth has been consistent, with spend rising 46% between 2018 and 2019 from £51m to £75m.

Much of the growth is being driven by the democratisation of software for SMEs, including accounting software, web design, domain registration and mobile-based payment.

The top B2B advertisers on linear TV in 2022 were Ionos By 1&1, Sage Group, and Intuit, among others. B2B spend on linear TV advertising is growing at a considerably faster rate than B2C spend, which has fallen 3% since 2017.
