Ok, let’s dive into this week’s update…

New WIX SEO Settings

Great news for site owners using Wix this week with the release of a new ‘edit by page’ SEO feature.

The new setting allows businesses and SEOs the option to review, monitor, and edit their pages’ meta tags, URL slug, indexability, and more – all in one place.

Wix has often been criticised for not having enough SEO functionality in the past. A focus over the last few years towards site performance and SEO will bring joy to those using the website builder.

To access the new feature, simply go to the Wix Dashboard and navigate to Marketing & SEO > SEO Tools > SEO Settings, then choose either Main pages or Products and select the Edit by Page tab.

Here’s the video by Wix explaining the settings in full.

Google Shopping on Search Console

Google have made it easier for store owners to submit and control the submission of their products on the Google Shopping tab, by releasing a new section within Google Search Console.

Google are rolling out the change gradually over the next few weeks. Once available, eligible store owners that have implemented product markup should start seeing the new section called Shopping tab listings.

Search Console also recently launched a Merchant Listings report to help merchants add Product structured data.

Small business support from Meta

Ahead of the forthcoming holiday season, Facebook and Instagram parent company Meta have released new resources to support small businesses.

Small business holiday marketing guide

Meta’s marketing guide helps business owners and advertisers navigate through the festive season. The report includes key insights in the form of Meta’s Foresight Interact Report. The insights report shows data on how people shop during the festive period and on mega sale days, with the ability to filter, find and compare to customise the insights to your needs.

The small business holiday marketing guide also:

  • Gives guidance on how to make ads more impactful, drive more sales, and expand your customer base.
  • Provides a handy checklist for businesses using Meta’s business tools
  • Lots of general tips for getting ready, during the holidays and retention strategies post-holiday.
  • +Finally, the guide rounds off with a number of success stories from other small businesses.

Naturally the entire piece is geared towards using Meta’s marketing and advertising solutions. But let’s face it, most of us are or should be using them, given the huge reach of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.

Try this Reel

A new series of content called “Try My Reel” has been released on Instagram For Business. The series showcases a selection of Reels templates designed by influential creators for small business owners.

The templates are available on Instagram’s template library and will be super helpful for those just jumping into mobile-friendly video or looking to quickly turn around quality content.

Missing reviews on Google business profile

Have you noticed any reviews missing from your Google business profile?

There are numerous threads in the Google Business Profile help forums by business owners who lost most or all of their reviews.

Google has confirmed that it is working to fix a bug that caused reviews to be erased for some users.

ITV media partnership with retailers Tesco and Boots

UK broadcaster ITV unveiled a new retail media offering within its Planet V buying platform.

Created with Boots Media Group and Tesco agency dunnhumby, the new Matchmaker service will be available to FMCG (Fast-moving consumer goods) advertisers which supply either retailer, and will be able to measure precise sales uplift among those who have seen an ad.

The technology is entirely cookie-less, instead matching ITV’s first-party registered audience data with Tesco’s Clubcard and Boots’ Advantage Card databases using the data collaboration platform of InfoSum.

Video ads now available on the Microsoft Audience Network

Following a pilot launch last year, Microsoft have announced that video ads are available on their Audience Network in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Australia and New Zealand.

Microsoft video ads are targeted using intent data from Bing search, the Microsoft Edge Browser, LinkedIn, and users’ web activity. Advertisers can upload their video ads directly to Microsoft or import existing assets from their Facebook advertising accounts.

In testing, Microsoft says adding video to search campaigns increased conversions by 50% compared to running a search campaign only.

While Google continues to remove advertiser controls and move towards automation, it will be interesting to see how many advertisers start to prioritise Microsoft solutions as they continue to advance and adapt its ads platform.

Brands should definitely be testing their marketing campaigns and creatives with Microsoft to see how they stack up against or complement their existing platforms such as Google and Meta.

WooCommerce vulnerabilities discovered

Store owners using WooCommerce should be aware of vulnerabilities with five popular plugins:

  • Advanced Order Export For WooCommerce
  • Advanced Dynamic Pricing for WooCommerce
  • Advanced Coupons for WooCommerce Coupons
  • WooCommerce Dropshipping by OPMC
  • Role Based Pricing for WooCommerce

If your store uses any of these plugins, read more about the vulnerabilities and ensure the plugins are updated to their latest version. Keeping all plugins updated is generally best practice for WordPress maintenance.

It’s also a best practice to back up the site before making any plugin updates and (if possible) to stage the site and test the plugin before updating.
