Google’s John Mueller: Technical SEO not going away

Google’s John Mueller has weighed in on the debate over the importance of technical SEO, asserting that it remains a crucial element despite recent discussions.

The debate was sparked by a comment on X (formerly Twitter), with Yiğit Konur suggesting that technical SEO is losing significance. Konur argued that many misunderstand this aspect of SEO and that the focus should shift more toward creating quality content.

This conversation follows Google’s update to its ranking systems documentation in April, which led to concerns about the role of technical SEO. Google’s Danny Sullivan has also clarified that the removed elements like HTTPS and Core Web Vitals were still vital signals for ranking systems.

Mueller’s recent statement reaffirms the continued importance of technical SEO, emphasizing its significance in website success, even as the SEO landscape evolves.
